Dealing with occupational violence

Dealing with occupational violence
We all have a right to feel safe at work. But as nurses and midwives, we may encounter situations where patients or their families are verbally and/or physically abusive.

Join us for this online webinar to explore the work health and safety legislation as it relates to the rights and responsibilities of nurses and midwives, and self-care strategies to help deal with trauma experienced in the workplace.

We'll also consider the tensions between managing our clinical and ethical responsibilities if we are exposed to occupational violence.

This webinar will be delivered by James Gilbert, QNMU Occupational Health and Safety Officer, and Janet Baillie and Melinda Jesudason, QNMU Wellbeing Officers.

Members will be invited to share with the group any strategies they currently employ to assist them during and after stressful events at work. Participants will also be invited to take part in a short mindfulness exercise during the presentation and will receive an email containing helpful resources.
