Panel discussion: Racism, it stops with me

Panel discussion: Racism, it stops with me
The theme of this year’s Reconciliation Week is Be Brave. Make Change. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.

Join us for this important panel discussion, where we will discuss how we can call out racism in the workplace – and how it is everyone’s responsibility to do so.

Panellists:
Lara Watson, Indigenous Officer, ACTU – "First Nations Workers Alliance and the National movement against racism in the workplace"
Thomas Mayor, National Indigenous Officer, MUA – "Uluru Statement of the Heart and how this addresses institutional racism" (pre-recorded)
• Jamie Shepherd, QNMU Professional Officer (Team Leader) – "Identifying and addressing racist behaviour in the workplace"

The discussion will be moderated by Sye Hodgman, QNMU First Nations Strategy, Policy and Research Officer.

The event is open to all QNMU members and will provide 1 CPD hour. Prior registration is compulsory to attend. For more information or enquiries please contact the QNMU Events Team on [email protected].
