Panel discussion: Cultural safety within nursing & midwifery

Panel discussion: Cultural safety within nursing & midwifery
The theme of this year’s Reconciliation Week is Be Brave. Make Change. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.

Join us for this important panel discussion on cultural safety, and what it means in the context of nursing and midwifery. It’s important all nurses and midwives understand cultural safety, not just because it is a requirement of the NMBA, but also because it goes to the heart of how we deliver safe and respectful care to our patients, residents and clients.

Panellists:
Dr Belinda Maier, Strategic Midwifery Policy and Research Officer, QNMU
Leonie Cox, Adjunct Associate Professor, QUT
Veronica Casey, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Metro South Health

The discussion will be moderated by Sye Hodgman, QNMU First Nations Strategy, Policy and Research Officer.

The event is open to all QNMU members and will provide 1 CPD hour. Prior registration is compulsory to attend. For more information or enquiries please contact the QNMU Events Team on [email protected].
