Bushfires: We’ll match what you raise
The long-term recovery of those towns and communities that have been devastated by bushfires will be significant, and is going to take people a long time to get their lives back to some form of normality.
Once the dust settles and these bushfires have finally ceased, thousands of Australians are going to need our support.
Which is why QNMU Executive has determined to match any financial donation made by a QNMU Local Branch or by members who conduct their own fundraising efforts to an approved organisation, up to a total of $50,000. Click here to view the list of approved organisations.
As the largest collective of nurses and midwives in Queensland, we have a role to play in assisting with the difficult task that lies ahead for so many of our fellow Australians, many of whom are nurses and midwives.
Give it, raise it, share it
It’s up to you how you choose to conduct a fundraising activity with your colleagues or QNMU branch, but it might include a barbeque or morning tea in your workplace. Click here
to download a template flyer you can use to promote your event.
The QNMU will donate the amount you raise and donate, provided the organisation you’re donating to is included on our list of organisations. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of organisations you can donate to, but we have narrowed our list down to those listed here
If donating to the Red Cross, you might consider starting up your own fundraiser using the Red Cross website. Click here to find out more
Whichever organisation you choose to donate to, simply send proof of your donation (eg: a screenshot of the receipt that includes the name of your QNMU Branch) and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
. Make sure it’s clear which organisation you are donating to so we can make the same contribution.
Please also send any photos from your fundraising event to email@example.com
. We will promote it on social media, which will hopefully encourage others to consider ways they might contribute.
Remember, donating money is the best thing you can do right now to ensure these communities get the support and resources they need. No amount is too small, especially if we all play our part.
