Wondering what a Branch Delegate is, or keen to nominate as a Branch Delegate or Alternate Delegate? Or maybe you are already a Branch Delegate and want fresh ideas on how to run an effective Branch. This course has been specifically designed to explain the role of Delegates and Alternate Delegates and how these roles work to build power in workplaces. 

During this session we will:

• Understand the purpose of a Local Branch
• Look at the role of Branch members
• Explore relationships of Branch members and various stakeholders (e.g., QNMU, Organisers, membership, employers and Governments)
• Understand the need to be “political” and why
• Practice writing, amending, and debating motions in preparation for QNMU annual conference
• What issues can you take to QNMU conference
• Develop a plan for your Branch
