Central Queensland - Midwifery Matters

As you know, a midwife’s workload increases dramatically when a baby is born. But currently, a mother and her baby are considered one person, both in terms of midwifery allocation and health funding.

Right now, more than 50% of Queensland’s midwives believe there is seldom or never enough midwives to provide quality care.

As part of our Count the Babies campaign, the QNMU is campaigning at a State and Federal level to have the workload of babies adequately addressed and funded.

In this session, we’ll provide an update on the Count the Babies campaign and discuss :

  • what we’re asking for
  • how you can get involved
  • safe workloads in midwifery (SWiM) standards
  • and provide a midwifery generic level statement update

During this event we also want to hear from you about what you need to keep safe and continue working in the health system to inform our future work.

Join your Central Queensland midwifery colleagues and QNMU members for an educational afternoon of discussions on all things midwifery!

We hope to see you there.

This event is open to all QNMU members and will provide 2 CPD hours.
Prior registration is compulsory to attend. For more information or enquiries please contact the QNMU Events Team on [email protected].
