We need your help to open the door to pay rises

Have you heard about the Federal Government’s ‘Secure Jobs, Better Pay’ bill? If passed, it will begin the work of fixing our flawed enterprise bargaining system and opening the door to meaningful pay rises.

Nurses and midwives know the current system is broken. It’s leaving workers behind without adequate pay rises, particularly those in female-dominated industries like aged care, all while the cost of living keeps increasing.

The proposed draft law includes multi-employer bargaining, which means workers from more than one provider or employer can negotiate together. We know that when workers stand together, they have more power to win fairer outcomes.

But the draft law will not pass without the support of some key Senators from the crossbench – particularly Pauline Hanson and Malcolm Roberts … and that’s where we need your help.

Here’s how you can help right now

For the draft law to pass the Senate, we need the support of the Greens and at least one crossbench senator. Can you spare a few minutes to let the Senate know why these new laws matter to you by:

  1. Sending an email to the Senate crossbench
  2. Sharing this post on social media and tagging crossbench Senators
  3. Signing this petition, calling on the Prime Minister to get wages moving

We need to convince these Senators to support these important changes. That’s why they need to hear from real workers who are struggling under the current system.
