Ruby Guminski relocated from the city to a regional hospital as a new graduate and has built a career grounded in continuity, relationships, and genuine woman-centred care.
Working within a dedicated antenatal continuity clinic model, Ruby supports the same women and families throughout their antenatal journey each week, and where possible, continues that support through birth and into the postnatal period. This model of care allows her to develop a deep understanding of each woman’s needs and to connect families with appropriate supports and referral services that can benefit them for years to come.
Committed to the future of the profession, Ruby has also embraced a mentorship role within a recently implemented program for new graduates across the health service, supporting the next generation of midwives through their transition into practice. She is grateful every day for the colleagues, the community, and the work that regional midwifery has given her.
“I feel so fortunate to work in a team where we genuinely support one another and share a focus on safe, woman-centred care. Getting to build supportive relationships with the women and families I work with to create positive change is what midwifery is all about for me."
