As Queensland’s largest QNMU branch, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Nurses Branch represents more than 3,000 members across RBWH, the wider Herston Campus, and multiple satellite hospitals extending as far as Bribie Island.

The branch leads not only by scale but by example – with experienced delegates actively mentoring and supporting newer members to ensure a pipeline of informed, capable, and committed advocates well into the future.

Operationally, the branch has developed a robust NaMCF framework through interest-based bargaining, driven measurable improvements in workload reporting with FTE uplifts, and co-developed practical tools including workload flow diagrams. The establishment of Branch Days brings members together for education, collaboration, and collective action – regardless of where they’re based.

The branch’s reputation for leadership and strategic advocacy extends beyond its own membership, with delegates from other unions regularly seeking their guidance and direction. Together, they have built a branch that is as strategic as it is passionate, and as effective as it is engaged.

“We really live by the motto ‘Together we can achieve more.’ Our experienced delegates work hard to set the branch up for continued future activism – because what we build today shapes what our members can achieve tomorrow.”
