Financial members of the QNMU receive free legal advice and representation for work-related issues. 

For family and personal matters, financial members of the QNMU also receive LegalBenefit – a service providing direct access to legal support at exclusive QNMU member rates.

Free advice and representation for work-related issues 

Financial members of the QNMU receive access to a range of industrial and legal experts for work-related matters at no extra charge.

The QNMU can assist members with workplace issues, attend meetings with you, advise you when you are required to provide a statement to various authorities, or even represent you in disciplinary matters.

The QNMU provides advice and representation for work matters including:

  • A complimentary standard Will is offered to QNMU members and their partner/spouse only. 
  • Financial QNMU members are eligible for one (1) complimentary Will every three years. More frequent requests will incur costs.
  • Other immediate family members are eligible for a subsidised standard Will costing approximately $100 + GST
  • Conditions apply in relation to a ‘standard’ Will. Due to the complexity of individual circumstances this is discussed with the member at the time of Will preparation.
  • Members will remain eligible to receive member rates should they require a ‘non-standard’ Will.
  • A reading fee may be charged in circumstances where significant amounts of documentation are required to be reviewed prior to the initial consultation.
  • All cost and expenses incurred by members who engage QNMU Law must be met by the member in accordance with the terms of the client agreement between the QNMU Law firm and the member. 
  • The QNMU does not provide any warranty or guarantee in relation to the legal services provided by QNMU Law. 

Immediate family member classification: 

Immediate family of financial QNMU members can also access LegalBenefit at exclusive QNMU member rates. This includes:

  • Spouse
  • De facto partners
  • Child
  • Sibling
  • Parent / legal guardian
  • Kinship.
