2022 Lifelong Work for Social Justice Forum
The QNMU is proud to once again present a very special forum for members interested in creating a more compassionate, equitable and sustainable world.

The forum highlights the interests of the following groups:

• Retired Nurses and Midwives Reference Group
• Nurses and Midwives for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
• Health and the Environment Reference Group

The forum will include presentations on environmental issues from the Australian Conservation Foundation and the Diamantina Health Care Museum, as well as a short film on refugee issues. And of course, we will have our usual hands-on activity of planting a flower garden.

Join us for an enlightening few hours. A delicious, healthy lunch will be provided.

Guest Speakers

Diane Cowley is the Hypertension Clinical Nurse Consultant / Graduate Nurse Practitioner in the Hypertension Unit, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. Diane is in-charge of the Hypertension Unit (ambulatory, out/in patient) care for hypertension patients. She has been Clinical Study Coordinator for numerous clinical studies since the late 90s. Diane has been the president of the Diamantina Health Care Museum since 2020.

Emma Eaton is a Nurse Educator in the executive division at Princess Alexandra (PA) Hospital, Brisbane, where she has worked since December 2000. She currently works with Enrolled Nurse and Assistant in Nursing professional development and has a special interest in supporting nurses who have been out of the active workforce for significant periods to return to practice. Emma has been the secretary of the Diamantina Healthcare Museum located at the PA Hospital campus for two years. She has also looked after the training records and transcripts since the time when PA delivered hospital training for nurses.

Jason Lyddieth is a Climate Change and Clean Energy Campaigner at the Australian Conservation Foundation. Jason worked for Solar Citizens and Greenpeace Australia Pacific before joining ACF. He is passionate about making Australia, and Queensland in particular, a leader in climate action.

Through the eyes and hearts of two Iranian musicians, Scattered People is a story about the healing power of music, bringing together people, cultures and countries while exploring Australians' attitudes towards people seeking asylum. Scattered People is about the power of music to create change and restore hope. You can read more about the film here.
 
This event costs $15.00 to attend and will provide 3.5 CPD hours.
