2025 Peace and Social Justice Event

The QNMU is proud to once again host a special forum for members passionate about building a more compassionate, equitable, and sustainable future. 

This uplifting event will feature thought-provoking conversations, shared ideas, and community connection. 

Four guest speakers will offer their expert insights into issues that matter deeply to nurses and midwives. 

  • Dr Yassmin Khadra – Brisbane-based physician and passionate Palestinian human rights advocate. 
  • Sye Hodgman – Proud Trawlwoolway Palawa nurse, unionist and community leader with experience across public, private, aged care and community-controlled health. 
  • Huda Fadlelmawla (Huda the Goddess) - Proud Sudanese Muslim woman, known internationally as a spoken word poet, educator and activist. 
  • Meryl Jones – Refugee health nurse with more than a decade’s experience working with marginalised peoples in the UK, PNG, Rwanda, and Tanzania. 
  • Assoc Prof Linda Selvey – Protecting human health from impacts of the climate crisis . 

Participants will also enjoy a healthy lunch, explore the QNMU Community Garden, and join in the spirit of solidarity through song, led by the Brisbane Combined Unions Choir.
