2026 Lifelong Work for Social Justice Gathering

The QNMU is proud to once again present a very special forum for members interested in creating a more compassionate, equitable and sustainable world.

As nurses and midwives, we know health is shaped by more than what happens in hospitals and health services. It is shaped by the communities we live in, the environment around us and the fairness of the society we share.

Join us for the 2026 QNMU Social Justice Forum as three inspiring speakers explore issues of justice, advocacy and collective action, and challenge us to think about the role we can play in creating  a better future.

Catelyn Richards- ANMF Federal Assistant Secretary.
Registered Nurse, Climate health advocate and cofounder of Climate Action Nurses, Championing a healthier and more sustainable future.

Dr Anne Brown- President of ANTaR Queensland.
Peacebuilder, former diplomat an advocate for justice and human rights for First Nations peoples.

Dr Helen Berents- Associate professor in the school of Government and International Relations at Griffith University.
Researcher and peacebuilder, exploring how young people navigate conflict and create positive change.

Special documentary screening

We are pleased to announce the QNMU will be hosting a special screening of the documentary movie - Until the Sy Falls Quiet.

An award winning documentary that follows two Australian doctors working in war-ravaged Gaza amid a collapsing health system. Through intimate, first hand footage, the film is a powerful account of health care under extreme conditions and the courage, compassion and humanity that endure even in the darkest circumstances. Filmed in real time with much of the footage captured by the doctors themselves, Until the Sky Falls Quiet is a rare and intimate record of resilience, loss, and the human cost of bearing witness in the world’s largest ‘open air prison’.
