Visual observations in the mental health setting

Visual observations in the mental health setting
Nurses working in mental health settings are frequently tasked with undertaking therapeutic visual observations (TVOs).

TVO’s are an important part of mental health nursing and getting them right and documented accurately is not only critical to patient safety but also is important to protect practitioners from significant consequences. Over the last 12 months, the QNMU has received an increasing number of representation requests for members undergoing disciplinary, regulatory and coronial investigations resulting from a failure to perform TVO's.

QNMU members working in the mental health sector are invited to attend this free webinar to better understand your roles and responsibilities around TVOs.

This webinar will outline:
  • Your professional obligations with carrying out TVO’s
  • Workplace disciplinary processes and/or OHO/AHPRA processes
  • potential consequences attributed to findings of misconduct
  • What you can do if you are unable to comply with your obligations due to other factors such as workload / culture
Attendance will provide 1 CPD hour.

Registration is compulsory to attend. For more information or enquiries please contact the QNMU Events Team at [email protected]
