Making a Difference: Role of The Workplace Rep
This course is open to GCHHS members only.

This course is designed for members who are active, or simply interested in learning more about the role of a QNMU Workplace Representative. It provides the skills and knowledge to build collective power, strengthen your workplace, and achieve real outcomes for nurses, midwives, and the communities you serve.

By the end of this course participants will be able to:
  • analyse their local workplace, identifying strengths and weaknesses
  • learn recruitment strategies and how to engage with colleagues
  • recognise what an organised workplace looks like in practice
  • explore ways to ensure members’ voices are respected and heard
  • explore ways to ensure members’ voices are respected and heard
  • understand the role of the QNMU Workplace Representative and other activist positions
  • identify collective approaches to dealing with workplace issues
  • develop a workplace plan to start building power and making change.
This course is open to all QNMU members and provides 6 CPD hours.

This course was previously named Making a Difference: Building a Strong and Effective Union.

As a specialist education session delivered by the peak professional and industrial body for nurses and midwives in Queensland, this course meets the requirements for Industrial Relations Education Leave (IREL). Please check your IREL entitlements in your EB agreements and (if applicable) apply for this leave as early as possible.
