Keynote Speaker:  Dr Jana Pittman

Jana Pittman is an athlete, mum, doctor, wife, speaker and author. Whilst the majority of her career was spent racing around the world and jumping over hurdles there is so much more to her story. Jana has failed more than she has succeeded and cried oceans of tears over fallen dreams and failed relationships but through it all Jana has realised how much more rewarding it is to go down fighting.

From racing in her first Olympic games in Sydney 2000 as a 17 year old, to running alongside Cathy Freeman in the 4x400m relay at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester or winning her second World title only 8mths after the birth of her son.  Jana has been very lucky to get close to achieving many of the goals she dreamt of as a child. But after winning the two senior world titles and four commonwealth championship gold medals in athletics, that elusive Olympic gold medal just kept slipping through her fingers. As the years past and injuries sidelined Jana time and time again, Jana had to come to terms with the fact that not every goal will come to fruition.

After her first born, there was a time she thought she wouldn’t be able to have more babies after losing a few little angels to heaven and a scare with abnormal cells in her cervix. These challenges reignited Jana’s childhood fire to become a doctor, and she had the privilege of graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2019 and work as a junior doctor in NSW.  Jana’s goal is to become an obstetrician/gynaecologist and work in Women’s health and finished a Masters of Reproductive Medicine in 2020. Jana also has the honour of being ambassador to a few amazing organisations in the medical world like ‘Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation’, ‘Save the Box (RANZGOG)’ and ‘Westmead Medical Research Foundation. These days Jana secretly believe that all her work in sport might simply have been to provide her with a voice for things like cancer awareness and research.
