There is no regulatory barrier for Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to work as Assistants in Nursing (AINs), but there are professional and ethical dilemmas that must be carefully considered before undertaking such employment. If an EN or RN chooses to undertake work as an AIN, there may be a professional expectation that could put the nurse at risk.
