Abortion was decriminalised in Queensland on 17 October, 2018, with the passing of the Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018, which aims to improve access to the reproductive choice of abortion. With the closure of some private services (such as Marie Stopes), midwives working in Queensland Health report increasing numbers of late-term abortions in CSCF services level 4 and above, leading to added workload pressures. QNMU midwife members reached out to the QNMU for advice and support regarding late-term abortions.
