Be active and make a difference in your workplace
Are there things you’d like to change in your workplace or community but you’re not sure how?

In this full day training you will learn about the importance of being an active member and how you can make a difference in your workplace.

Over the course of the day, you’ll attend three sessions which will each focus on a specific topic.

Introduction to activism
Learn how being active in the QNMU can help achieve real outcomes for nurses and midwives. You’ll learn about how you can work with the QNMU to take collective action to improve your work environment, and what being a union member in your workplace is all about. Hear stories of your fellow members winning in their workplace - there are countless examples of QNMU members working together and securing great outcomes.

Workload management
In this session we'll discuss some of the industrial and professional mechanisms available to help you deal with workload issues and come away with practical strategies you and your colleagues can use. You'll hear about some great wins our members have achieved to improve their workloads. Finally, there will be an opportunity to discuss what’s happening in your workplace and share ideas.

Your Enterprise Agreement
Find out what your agreement contains, how to interpret it, and your rights and responsibilities at work. You will also learn about steps you can take to ensure your entitlements are applied correctly. At the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Locate your enterprise agreement
• Understand your agreement
• Interpret simple clauses
• Know where to get assistance if you need it
• Understand the link between union strength and enforcing the enterprise agreement

Whether you work in public, private or aged care sectors, this full-day training will have something for you.

This event will be delivered by QNMU Education Officer Chris Doyle and will provide 6.5 CPD hours
