Creating a Safe and Healthy Workplace

Get a crash course on workplace health and safety legislation. We’ll cover the process of risk management and the hierarchy of controls. 

You’ll leave with range of knowledge about the current health and safety issues facing nurses and midwives and how you can be part of changing things at work. A must for nurses and midwives concerned about unsafe workplaces. 

By the end of this course participants will: 

  • have a sound understanding of the role of a Health and Safety Representative according to the Queensland Work Health and Safety Act 2011
  • understand the concept of "reasonably practicable"
  • understand Provisional Improvement Notices (PINS) and the right to cease unsafe work
  • be able to specify the obligations of an employer to Health and Safety Representatives
  • know where to locate relevant work health and safety resources available to them
  • understand the risk assessment process
  • understand current workplace health and safety issues facing nurses and midwives.
