Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work

From bullying and occupational violence to fatigue and high job demands, psychosocial hazards are anything at work that may cause psychological or physical harm. Managing psychosocial hazards and risks at work is just as important as managing physical risks.

Queensland’s new code of practice covers most nurses, midwives and AINs working in Queensland and provides a practical guide for managing and minimising harm from psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • have a sound understanding of psychosocial hazards
  • be able to identify psychosocial hazards and their impact on workers
  • understand the obligations of employers and workers in managing psychosocial hazards
  • understand the role of consultation in workplace health and safety
  • understand how risk assessments can be completed psychosocial hazards
  • be confident to raise reports, complaints or incidents
  • know where to locate information about the code of practice.
