Thanks to the efforts of the QNMU, the cut-off date for Queensland Health workers to take their additional two days’ of COVID-19 Reward Leave has been extended to 31 March next year.

The leave is available to permanent and temporary (who have more than three months continuous service as at the eligibility date), full time and part time employees (pro-rated) but not casual employees.

This leave:

  • should be taken at a mutually convenient time and wherever possible where backfill is not required
  • must be paid at ordinary hours and is based on the 7.5 hour day
  • is subject to expiration if not taken or upon separation from QH, whichever is sooner
  • is not cashable.

You must have been employed on 10 September 2020 to be entitled to these two additional days.

QH introduced this reward leave to acknowledge your efforts and response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We know the pressures on our health system and workload demands due to COVID-19 have made it difficult for some members to take this leave, which is why we requested QH extend the time limit.
