Queensland COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers

Published: 1 September 2023

The Queensland Government has announced that Queensland Health will undertake consultation on removing employee COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

The consultation follows a decision by the Chief Health Officer that a vaccination mandate is no longer necessary for Queensland Health workers.

The QNMU will participate in the consultation process in relation to the proposed changes. The duration of the consultation period is two weeks and commences on Monday 4th September.

It is important to note that as of now, the Health Employment Directive and Queensland Health Policy regarding mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for Queensland Health Nurses and Midwives remains in effect.

We will continue to update members as more information is received around the consultation process.
