The Voice to Parliament Referendum is set for Saturday 14 October. All enrolled voters will be asked to cast a vote to amend the Australian Constitution to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ensure they have a say on the laws that impact their communities.

This referendum is about constitutional recognition and voice, and is an opportunity to make a lasting difference for the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We say ‘Yes’ to the Voice to Parliament

As union members, we know how important it is for the people on the ground to have a say on the things that impact them – and we know how badly things go when the people in power don’t listen to us. That’s why having a voice is such a fundamental value of our union.

Social justice is and has always been union business, and the Australian union movement is committed to supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart. You can read more about why the QNMU is supporting the Voice to Parliament referendum here.

Achieving a successful ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum will require as many Australians as possible playing their part.

  • Sign up to the Voice to Parliament campaign.
  • Make sure you are enrolled to vote and your details are up to date.
  • Have discussions with your family, friends and community - talk to people about the importance of the Voice and the impact this can have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples having a voice on their own lives and future.
