In our words
Stories and reflections from Queensland's nurses and midwives
When the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, no one could have foreseen that the value and contribution of our professions would be so in the spotlight. Communities around the world have seen first-hand the importance, power and value of the work of nurses, midwives and other health workers.
The words of Queensland’s nurses and midwives in these stories focus on the “why” - why we do what we do. We called upon our members to share their stories. Some are funny, some are sad, some are inspiring, and some are about our everyday routine work.
But fundamentally, the stories are about people and relationships. We hope you enjoy reading these stories, and when doing so, reflect and celebrate the importance of the work we do.
